Halloween in Millwood: Our Driveway Bonfire Tradition

Halloween night in Millwood is seriously special. It feels like the whole town comes outside. Every year our family sets up in the driveway with a bonfire, warm apple cider, and glow sticks for every kid who comes by. This year we will be out Saturday starting at 4 PM.
Our Driveway Tradition
It started simply. We wanted to be outside with our kids and our neighbors instead of running back and forth to the door. So we built a fire, made a big pot of apple cider, and bought more glow sticks than we could ever need.
Now it is the part of Halloween our kids talk about all month. Families stop to warm up by the fire, the parents grab a cup of cider, and the kids leave glowing. Some years we see the same faces, and every year we meet someone new.
Why Millwood Is a Great Place for Halloween
Millwood is a small town tucked into the Spokane Valley, with mature trees, sidewalks, and a real neighborhood feel. On Halloween, the streets fill with families, porches are decorated, and neighbors linger to talk.
It is the kind of night that shows you what a community is really like. That is something I always tell buyers to pay attention to. The house matters, but so do the people on your street.
Traditions Are Part of Choosing Where to Live
When families ask me how to choose a neighborhood, I tell them to look beyond the home itself. Walk the street on a Saturday. Notice whether neighbors wave. Ask what the street does for the holidays.
Real moves are driven by life stages, not interest rates. A growing family wants a street where the kids can trick or treat, ride bikes, and know the neighbors. Those things rarely show up in a listing, but they shape your life more than almost anything else.
