Just Listed in Highland Park: A South Hill Home Built for Hosting

I have walked through a lot of South Hill homes, and the ones that stick with me are the ones where you can picture an actual Saturday night: someone cooking, someone pouring drinks, kids disappearing downstairs. 6702 S Westchester Dr in Highland Park is that house. It is just listed, and it is set up for people who like having people over.

The Main Floor

The kitchen was redone in 2021, and the appliances are brand-new Forno. The island is generous, the kind that seats a few people while someone else cooks, and it is the natural place everyone lands.

What I like most is that the home gives you two ways to eat. A built-in dining nook handles weeknights, homework, and coffee before school. The formal dining room is there for the holidays and the dinners that deserve a real table. You get the everyday ease and the occasion without one compromising the other.

The main floor also handles daily life well, with a spacious primary suite, a dedicated office, hardwood floors, a fireplace, and main-floor utilities, so laundry stays on the same level as the bedroom you actually use.

The Lower Level

This is where the home earns its reputation. The lower level is a daylight walkout, so it does not feel like a basement. There is a second family room, a built-in wet bar, and then the game room, which is the room I would expect most people to talk about on the drive home.

For families with teenagers, this is the setup that makes your house the one everyone comes to. For couples, it is a standing game night or a place to watch the big game without taking over the main living room. Either way, two levels give people room to spread out without anyone feeling sent away. With five bedrooms, there is space for guests to stay the weekend too.

Highland Park and the South Hill

Highland Park is an established South Hill neighborhood with quiet streets, and the location is hard to beat. You are three minutes from dinner at Luna and six from breakfast at Chaps, with South Hill shopping close by and downtown Spokane an easy drive. If you are relocating and still getting to know the area, this is a good neighborhood to compare against Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, or Coeur d'Alene, because it shows what an in-town Spokane neighborhood can feel like.

What I Would Be Looking For in Person

Photos do a lot, but a few things are worth experiencing in person.

Start in the kitchen and walk to the nook and then the formal dining room. In a home built for hosting, that flow matters more than any single finish, and it is where you will get a feel for how a full house would move.

Go downstairs at different times of day if you can. The daylight walkout is a big part of why the lower level works, and seeing the light firsthand tells you how much time you would actually spend down there.

Think about sound. With a game room and wet bar on the lower level, notice how the two floors separate so a late night downstairs does not keep anyone up.

And picture your own routines. Where the kids drop backpacks, where the coffee happens, where guests set their drinks down. The right house makes those small moments easy.

Ready to See It?

If this one fits the way you live, I would love to show it to you.
